今天,美国医学科学院公布了2016年新科院士共70位美国院士和9位外籍院士。当选美国医学科学院院士是美国公共卫生和医学界公认的最高荣誉。

美国医学科学院院长Victor J. Dzau教授宣布新科院士名单时表示:“成为院士不仅表明了他们在各自的生命科学领域身为学术佼佼者,更是美国公共卫生和医学事业发展的推动者和奉献者。”

Dzau院长强调:这些新科院士们都是在他们专业领域出类拔萃的带头人,他们的学识和经验将有助于我们解决和探索健康问题、科学问题和医学问题,这些也是全社会共同关注的挑战。

美国医学科学院每年通过既定推选程序和规则,由现任医学科学院院士选举产生新的院士。这些新院士在医学、公共卫生和健康等领域取得了业内共识的成就和贡献。

与此同时,为了丰富美国医学科学院院士的学术背景和交叉学科领域兼容性,美国医学科学院至少选举包括四分之一(名额)的院士来自于非医学和公共卫生学领域,例如法律、工程学、社会学和人文科学等。至今,美国医学科学院已有院士1947位,其中外籍院士146位。
